Dark Pinup Portfolio with Franccesca Destruct
Back in high school, I was kind of the class everyman. I wasn’t super popular, but I wasn’t exactly a nerd, either. I hung out with a lot of kids from a lot of different social groups – the preppie kids, the jocks, the band (including my high school sweetheart), the stoner kids, and the punks. If my high school was The Breakfast Club, I was a (slightly) less nerdy Anthony Michael Hall. All this to say, that my soul was with the punk kids. My music inspirations started there with the Misfits, Gwar, Metallica (pre black album), and the Ramones all being early influences. I got into death metal a little bit through bands like Death, Cannibal Corpse, Holocaust, and, my all time favorite, Gwar. And while I enjoyed it and identified with it, I think I was a little too suburban white kid to rebel in that way.
Cut to 20 years later, and this beautiful and talented bass player by the name of Franccesca Destruct pops up in my Facebook. She had this incredibly intense look, and a really unique sense of style. My inner punk / goth just went nuts. The endless possibilities, the fun things I could put together with her, they wouldn’t stop buzzing in my brain. So FINALLY we get to work together, and it’s like an explosion of creativity. We hit it off really well, and Franccesca is one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met. Her intense exterior overlays a shy, quiet, intelligent core. She drew me in, and I have to say that shooting with her pushed me to be creative on a different level.
I’m really pleased with how these turned out, and I hope you are too. Let me know in the comments what you think.
